Make sure to stay in the boat trails through the marsh, don't try to make new ones.

Not sure about the water level coming up. Went ride to the weirs the other day and water was coming over the top of the boards, so of anything the water level will go down. Best boat to have in the pool is a mud motor. You may want to bring a GPS if you have never been. I've seen a few lost in there before. LOL

We went by the pool Thursday. It looked good as far as water level goes, but let me tell you, there ain't a lot of open water. Lot of vegetation.

I don't understand why they don't bring the water level back up to what it used to be.

Its managed for waterfowl, not bass. All it is, is a duck hole that happens to have bass.

That's fine. But keeping the water level down during the summer is doing nothing for the ducks. When it gets hot the vegetation over grows the whole marsh and where are the ducks supposed to land when they get here in the winter? Raise the water level in February and drop it in September. Raise the water level in the hot months and it will keep the vegetation down. That would do great for the ducks.

Only problem I see with this statement is it makes way to much "cents"

Supposedly would kill or not let the "right" stuff for ducks grow if they did.

It does seem that there would be a "happy medium" somewhere in there.

Who decides on what the water level will be in the impound??

Yes ldwf does stock the impoundment, but that is just a courtesy to the general public because that place happens to hold enough water for bass. Lacassine isn't run by ldwf, it's run by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, "the feds," who don't manage it for fish because the place was never intended to be a sport bass fishing lake.

Is the depth issue with the perimeter canals, trails, or the marsh ponds ???

I didnt think it was a mud motor only sitution ?

Hydro, the only canal that maybe an issue is far north west corner but I have ran all over the west pool with no issue unless getting stupid when water is low and getting in the flats..... unless its been removed there was a piece of pipe on the north side of the levee that now splits the west pool towards east end of levee, its under water and several people have hit it.
