Default When You are Shown Your Blessings

You see it on the news, you read about it on fb but when you see it with your own eyes it's heartbreaking.
The wife and I went to the Shell station for gas like we do weekly. There was a guy hanging around the pumps and the people getting gas. That kind of activity makes me really start paying attention. When I realized he was digging through trash cans looking for food my heart sank.
I thought about my family and how blessed we are. Yeah if things come up we may have to move some $ around but at the end of the month we have a roof, bills are paid and there's plenty of food on the table.
Poor guy wasn't 100% there but nice as can be. He was trying to get home and waiting for his sister to come from Laffeyette to get him.
He started crying when my wife walked him into the wendys by the shelll station.
Sorry for the fb post.

I struggle with a lack of compassion for homeless people because the rational me knows that these people are in the positions they are in due to a series of poor decisions they have made in their lifetime. You could give them a million dollars and they'd be living under the same bridge two years from now. BUT the Christian me knows I have to help them so I do. Good job Duckman, you did the right thing!!

35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me

What they do with our help defines them.......

that we decide to give defines us

I agree with you 100%. I've gave to people even when I was pretty sure I was getting scammed. In the end that's on them not me. A 20 isn't going to effect my life but if it actually helps someone really needing help it's worth getting scammed a few times.
I know there are varying opinions of me on here and I understand that.
What I saw today broke me down so bad.
To show his character he ordered a 4piece nugget so we didn't have to spend much. $1.19. Wife wasn't having that.lol. He ate good. I hope he's home now.

Default nice

awesome on you and your wife, thanks for sharing, when i was little i remember my parents bring a homeless guy a huge plate of white beans and rice, and the look on his face was something i will never forget, we were far from well off but that was a great life lesson on helping where you can, not many people like you left in the world duckMAN
