Default V. Bay fall fishing thoughts???

Seem like the summer time tiger shoals action is SHOT For chasing trout offshore!!! Thoughs.......

Also what's your thoughts for the fall.... With all the high water pouring into the bay. Will it be a late season like we had a few years ago??

With salinity levels not over 1000p/m right now I have little faith in the Bay for this fall. Better off jigging for Socalait on the Cote' Blanche rigs!
If we can get to at least 4-5,000 p/m then I think we should start catching some fish. As waters cool the outside reefs should produce way before the bay does.

Went to the bay about two weeks ago, mostly fished the mouth of the pass and a little place outside the right of the pass i call "the rocks". Caught 26 rat reds. Brought nothing back but it was still fun.

I still think they are offshore, I don't know why you say its shot, the winds? Water is still decent out there.

Just saying. Probably not shot but the chances of getting out there with the way the tropics are may be tough to get out there

Fished the east side of V.B. yesterday 8:40 to 10:30. Expected dirty water but it was clean and prediction of tide movement was almost nil, but with the north wind, had a lot of water movement. Kept our limit (2) of reds and tagged another 10 red fish. No specks, water is too fresh for them.

That's good to hear....have not fished the bay at all this year ready to tug on some bronze backs. Would you say the water is clear enough to catch on lures?

I've caught a few times this summer but haven't fished it hard at all. Think I made 7 trips since April. Best trip was a solo trip in mid July. limit of trout, 3 reds, 3 flounder all inside. Caught 30 another time at Tete Butte on topwater in some slop. One good trip to the pass but no limit. Last trip was bad didn't even look for trout but found a limit of reds. Worse trip was early April only caught 3 reds, and 4 another trip in July. I've gotten to know Big Lake as well as I know the bay, I rather drive another 30 min and be able to see my bait and not feel like I should be running crawfish cages instead of fishing.

The reds are still holding on banks on the west side out of ICY. Just have to weed through a lot of small fish to fill the box.

I'm about to switch my focus to killing some ducks and between going back to Africa for work again I doubt I'm going to be able to fish much more.
