Minor problem

Is anyone have this issue with that has rear seats. The salt water is corrosion is reading up the buttons that hold the seat cushion to the back rest.

Does Anyone have a solution to this problem?

Because they are not stainless more than likely.

They look to be stainless, just did not appear to ever been sprayed down with fresh water. Good idea to do that on any stainless hardware on your boat after saltwater use.

The cushion snaps on to the back rest. The button are corroded from the salt water.

You have to clean it after every time you go out. Salt will eat through everything.

Is your boat that dirty. The pics make it look like it hasn't been cleaned in a few trips??

Mainly dust and pollen from live oak tree in front my house . Shes been siting for a little while. All that wipes right off. Nothing to worry about

Well the snaps shouldn't fall off that easy. I have a 15 year old fish master in my drive way and all the snaps are still there.

It's the salt water. That's eating them up. I'll figure something out

Even if they are stainless, they'll still corrode some. Like above, have to rinse and probably even corrosion x them a little.

Went offshore with a customer the other day. He's got a 42' yacht. While cleaning up, I watched him put Vasoline on all his snaps to his new cabin cover. Seemed like a pretty good idea.

Vaseline is used to lubricate snaps to make them easier to snap and unsnap. This will help prevent the snaps being pulled from the material.

I would suggest anyone who fishes in salt water spray their boat and trailer down with salt away after every trip. I have used it on my last 2 boats and never had an issue with corrosion.

Little TLC and some elbow grease....salt water is a Motha...on steel...yes even Stainless. try to remember to do a good wash down of everything each time you make a trip in saltwater. also get you a can of Fluid-film to apply a lite coat to the snaps...

Fluid Film is also the same ingredients as in Woody Wax used for non-skid. Awesome stuff.
