Default Samaritan's Purse helping with our flooding

Guys, just an FYI, Franklin Graham (Billy Graham's son) has a very worthwhile organization named Samaritan's Purse (see your bible for an explanation of the title) and they are in this area to help those of our neighbors who have flooded. (Gunner, they might be able to help you). I volunteered with them all day today and I plan on doing it again on Friday and all next week. I can't help tomorrow and Thursday due to doc visits. Their goal is to help our neighbors by pulling out sheetrock and cabinets and then spraying the studs/plates/etc. to eliminate mold until the homeowners can get contractors in to rebuild their interior. In this area they are operating from Crossroads Church and they are very organized.

Just google Samaritan's Purse and it should lead you to the Lafayette website where you can get information. If you want info, just PM me and I'll point you in the right direction. Of the two houses we gutted today, one of the homeowners had flood insurance and one didn't . So sad.

As info, myself and two others were the only local volunteers in our "team". The others were from out of town and out of state. One lady flew in from Las Vegas into New Orleans yesterday, rented a car and drove to Lafayette to assist, all at her own expense. Others were from Arkansas, New Orleans, etc. Really heartwarming.

They actually gutted the house of the officer who was shot in the arm in BR. Good on them.

They are an awesome group. They came out and gutted my house after I flooded back in March. They were a wonderful group of volunteers and the people running it were even better at organizing chaos. If you are looking to get with a group to help out they are a great way to go.
