Question ant killer

so i got ants ....loads of em. lol
lil bastids build 5 new mounds a nite, its unreal. big mounds like a 12-18 in base and 4-6 in high.
i got some stuff that kills em in the mound, its a white powder, works in a few hours.
but i wanna kill / keep em out of my yard around the house. area about 90 x 180
rest of the area i dont care ill just let em keep that i guess.
is there any lawn spread/ protection that will kill / protect from ants???
i got some stuff for mosquitos and fleas and ticks....that stuff works.... its supposed to kill ants also....but dont!!

thanks in advance for the advice!!

Treat your yard w/ amdro ,not just the mounds they will move to your neighbors yard
I have seen where neighbors got together and treated whole blocks at one time and got rid of the ants. If folks treat them at different times all you are doing is moving them around.

The bait you put in a broadcast spreader works... The last couple of years I got with both my neighbors and also did 50' back into the ballfield behind our houses... It doesnt completely eliminate them but you can really see the difference...

Cant remember the name brand, whatever is on sale at Lowes when I get around to it... Stuff is high dollar...

Its been too wet so far this year so I have just been spot treating with an all purpose liquid insect killer made by Bayer... Seems to work, just put a spash in a sprinkler can, add water and go on patrol...

Check out Tal-Star. It is not cheap, but works great. Beware of using it if you have a pond or are using it near water. The chemical that kills the ants attacks the nervous system and it will do the same to fish.

cutter backyard bug control ; it a liquid micx that is used by attaching a hose and then spraying on the yard..... i do it right b4 sunset so it can soak in to the ground. been using it for 2 years.

pond is about 50 yards away from house and water from my yard drains away from pond so im ok i think

the bayer home defense is great on the beds of ants, kills overnite and also kills spiders fast!!!!
love that stuff i been using it since last summer.

I use Scotts weed and feed plus with ant killer in it, it actually has Amdro poisen in it but after treating my yrd two months back to back it kills ants and keeps them out almost all yr which during the late part of summer I just buy a big bag of Amdro and broadcast it on my yrd.

When I poison the mounds, it looks like they move under the road.
Next week, the mounds are along the curb.

Bengal roach spray works great! Put the tube on it & push it a couple inches in the mound & spray, you'll see the fog start rolling out the holes. Kills em Dead! ALL OF EM!

the easiest thing to use is the scotts weed and feed bonus s max.you get to feed our yard and kill the ants. lowes has it on sale right now where you buy turfbuilder with it and you get 20% off the whole lot. I did it at my girlfriends parents house and it took about a week but all the mounds are dead now. if not there is a product that ortho makes that you put in a broadcast spreader thats like 20 bucks a bag that has the same active ingredient as their bugb gon product only at a higher concentration.

For red ants Tal-Star hands down is the best, I treat my yard with it 3 times a year and I have no ants and haven't since I started using it.

I'm worried about spreading ant poison over my yard with a spreader, everything drains to my pond.

Lowes has Once and Done, or another brand also. Spread with a spreader over entire yard. I have used it last 3 years, does a great job. You may have to do again about 5 months later.

Tal Star works been using it also for a couple of years. A friend that treats commercial properties turned me on to it. I would recommend it to any one. Can be found at most farm supply outlets.
