Will the 3/8 have a 3/0 hook?

Default For anyone interested...

After a bit of conjecture about the weight of certain leadheads, I decided to weigh 7 popular lead jigheads, that are all marked 1/8oz. on the label, and report the definitive results... here they are:

As we all know, 1/8oz. = .125oz./3.54g., 3/16oz = .187oz./5.31, 1/4oz. = .250oz./7.08g.

Our most popular jighead, the generic ball-jighead was closest to 1/8oz, weighing in at .14oz./3.9g.

In a distant second place and more than a full gram heavier, is the Strike King flats jighead weighing in at .17oz./5.0g.

Coming in third is the Gene Larew High Tide jighead at .18oz./5.3g.

In a tie for fourth are Yellowmouth Baits and Norton's... both weighing in at just over 3/16th of an ounce or .19oz/5.4g.

Fifth place goes to the Shrimphead jighead with a weight of .20oz./5.9g.

And finally, the heaviest jighead weighed was the Bass/Salt Assassin jighead. Weighing in at just .02oz. shy of 1/4oz.. .23oz/6.6g.!

One thing I dont like about those jigheads is that they are too short..the hooks. I started making my own with a eagle claw 630-2/0. They work great due to the longer hook . I just modified my jighead mold to make em. I dont loose tails or ends of my bait cause instead of the fish rippin off the tail it now gets hooked. I will post a pic of them later. I just made 175 this afternoon in 1/8 and 1/4 ounce. They hold up to reds also. Caught a bunch of 30-36 inch bulls on em already.

I have been throwing the Marsh Works for a couple years and they hold up great. They use the Mustad Ultra Points so you are not getting a cheap jig head.

OB and the TackleBox would be your best bet to try for that. We are just concentrating on jig heads and our own stuff for the time being.
