Youre good to go, duck season is over. I hear they're catching sacalait under the light right by the launch at night

The lake is not closed to fishing in the mornings during duck season. The people with blinds out there would rather people not fish close to them while they are hunting but no rule against it. The only time any part of Lake Martin is the area where the wading birds nest, which is closed from Feb 15 til July. There will be signs saying where you can not go but it is usually grown up enough and the water is shallow back there so no real reason to be back there (even though a couple of the tour guides go back there for some reason. The birds are more visible from the road than they are from the boat anyways). Some of the larger birds start nesting in January while hunting is still going on.

I was riding around the lake Thursday and the water is high but looks really good, the hyacinth is at bay right now so you can fish almost all the lake. Good luck

We fished all day on the levee tried different spots with no luck. Not even a nibble. We had a great time and its a beautiful lake. The only bad thing was all the guys we talked to said yesterday they all left with 40-50 sac's from where we were fishing. We missed it by a day. some guys told me they caught a few bass. We'll be back.
