Default Toledo Bend:

Thinking of hitting the chicken coop area tomorrow to try my hand at the crappie. I've never fished that area of the lake before and am not sure where to put in. I figured to head up 171 to Many then take the bridge across and launch on the Texas side, just not sure where the best place to launch is that will get me the closest to the Coop.

I'm planning on live minnows fished at/near the bottom.

Does anyone have any pointers or comments?

From what i understand the fish are staged about 18-25 ft down on the main river channel bend in the coop area. water depth of 30-40 ft.

Good luck weather has been pretty nasty hopefully it will lay down for you a bit.

Thanks. Wind is supposed to by about 13 tomorrow but laying down in afternoon. At least it's supposed to be sunny and fairly warm.

Where's the best place to launch to access that area?

Thanks. Looks like I'll either launch at Newell's or at the Harbor Marina on the West end of HWY 21 bridge. Just look for the crowd of boats I guess to know when I get there huh?

Yep. Sometimes fishing the trees along the river will produce also. We usually pull up to a stump and drown shindrs for 15 minutes or so, if nothing move a bit and try again.
