Grew up in Eunice. There is some good hunting all around. Just the birds go to same farms every year. You could be hunting right next to that farm and you will struggle. Just hope this place is one of the farms that they like to come to. Good luck. You shoot a lot of teal if the birds are there.

Lawtell Duck hunting
Had a blind in Swords(b/w Lawtell and Eunice) off Rayne Rd 7-8 years ago. Did great for teal. Duck season was decent too.

There are some birds in the area. I think it used to be better though.
I have a buddy that lives just on the Southeast side of Lawtell off of Acadiana road. He used to hammer the ducks right next to his house in a crawfish pond. About 8-10 years ago there were a lot of ducks in that area. I went out there and just listened and watched sometimes as there were about 2000-3000 in a little crawfish pond right off of the road. Redheads, Scaup, Mallards, Greys.......It was weird to me, all kinds of ducks mixed together. Another real good spot around there is Just on the Southside of Eunice. There is a flightway of ducks that use the Mowata area pretty good. That little spot has been consistent for some years now. |
