Default saltwater/marsh flyfishing

anyone have experience with saltwater flyfishing in south Louisiana?
I haven't had a fly rod in my hand in 30 years. Just bought a sterling flats boat and would like to start chasing reds with a fly rod. Don't have any idea about what kind of rod, reel, line, etc. i need to purchase.

also wouldn't mind taking someone out on my boat that has experience with a fly rod and wouldn't mind putting up with a novice.

8-9 weight rod and reel combo. weight forward floating line. 30 lb dacron backing. 17lb flourocarbon leader. pick up some merkin crab pattern flys, epoxy spoon flies, bead eye clousers, and deceivers. ive recently got into fly fishing for reds, and i tell you what, you will never want to pick up a conventional rod and reel again once you land one on the fly.

Wow, that may be the gayest comment ever in the history of public forums.

Robin give me a shout, have a guy in Watson that will make you a flyrod for reds (I've bought 3 from him for me & the boys) & i'll give ya some holes in Venice within 2 mins of the landing, if decide to go that way.
