That is cool.. I live just north of Scott and I had a pair of whistling ducks hanging around my pond and duck boxes one day last week.. But nothing cool like this happened!

If she was defending the box it almost had to be eggs. Wood duck chicks will jump out of the box within 24-36 hours of hatching. Whistlers are primarily seed eaters so they probably weren't trying to eat any eggs or chicks. Whistlers will nest in a box so they were probably looking for a nest box for their own brood.

Question: the final picture shows the squealers both back on top of the box. Did the one that got the bum's rush circle back around and take it's place back on the box? Or was that one of the first pics?
