Default Transducer install problem

My transducer isn't reading depth once I get on step where it's currently installed. My sonar screen whites out.

It only reads depth at idle speed. I need to move it, so I order I can log sonar data.

I was installed just like the directions says but. I the step has to be put the water once in on step. Does it matter how install it on the V that you see on the under the boat. Or does it need to be line up with the bottom of the boat also down there.

Most smaller transducers don't read depth at speed man. Yours looks similar to mine and after about 20MPH mine doesn't read correctly either.

It should read I have a friend with the same unit and his reads up to 30+ . All I need is it to read so I can log my sonar and create contour maps for a program I have lowrance 83/200

For the program I'm not trying to see anything I just need a depth reading for the contour map.

[IMG][/IMG]I moved my transducer to the bottom. Where the V is. Looking at the directions, I would say now it's installed right being that it's a V bottom boat.

I use the same trans. To get it to use at high speed I had to adjust the angle slightly...One thing to watch is it can throw water , spray, , not much , but enough to go up the cowling to spray onto the block n plugs....Not enough to matter in fresh water but you start to find salt particles with salt water on the head....

Wit shouldn't spray I'd say being that it's tucked under the step.

I have always gotten best results by mounting it lower so the whole transducer body is below the hull, this prevents the hull turbulence from distorting the water screwing up the readings at speed.

you didn't mention the type of unit you are using but the better the unit the better it reads at speeds so a "less than" top brand unit may be the problem and not the placement of the transducer
