Couple hundred yards in. Caught reds and flounder.

My grandparents live on it. Way up by Ryan st. When I was really little we caught a lot of bass and perch.
Dad said when he was a boy it was crystal clear and knee deep at the house and lots of fish. I have a pic of him with a 6ft gar fish he caught. He said he would wade across the water go through some tree headed south then come out the other side and it was rice fields as far as you could see. 1 house several miles off in the distance he said. On mcneese property. All gravel Rd back then.
I bieve late 1940's

Nice! The water actually does not look that bad right now.

Has anyone ever bass fished back there? I imagine if they are there, they're trapped because of the saltwater. It might not have been 'stocked' like Bayou D'Inde but I assume it could handle it the same way. Most of our bass are brackish anyway. Just curious.

God Bless

Coach

Like I said in my previous post when I was younger. 20-22yrs ago we caught a lot of bass and bream. Now I'm not sure what it's like. I just know it's dirty. At my grandparents house lots of nastiness on that water.

Man, I wouldn't touch that water coming out of contraband bayou. That stuff is just nasty. Don't know how anything lives in it. We threw cast nets in there a few times by McNeese. So much garbage......just nasty.

Maybe closer to where it comes out into the lake its good, but up stream.....nasty!

Used to fish everyday as a kid where it branches out towards contour. Full of bass and perch. One day the fish were just gone. Never figured out really what caused it.

If people are catching bass in Bayou Dinde, I would assume there are bass in Contraband Bayou. I wouldn't eat a fish out of either, but I would fish it for the sport. Gotta find out somehow.
