sounds like a o2 sensor to me. whens the last time you had it cleaned? inside of the o2 sensor box they have some foil cover foam pads. you need to replace those. the sensor itself when you take it out make sure you dont touch it with your bare hands. the best thing to clean it with is contact cleaner and a soft cotton cloth. id start there and those lil foil pads you can just clean them also but i find it better to just replace them. they are cheap. you can go to the yamaha website and look up the parts diagram for your motor. the o2 sensor is on diagram electrical 3. i say its your o2 sensor because almost every ox66 that sputters or laggs with throttle response it is usally the o2 sensor. also there is a little tube that sticks in the o2 sensor it is part 49 on that diagram. make sure you have no trash in it. ive seen lil wasp make nest in those and the motor wont run with it close up. let me know what you find

heres one for yah

idk if you have worked with jet skis but..

okay we have a fairly new jet ski, took it out couple days ago for the second time this season, and when we "floor it" it only goes to 6500 rpms and goes about 35-38. last year it when we got it in july it would run about 55-60.

is it just bad gas? we got c-foam and put that in there but it still aint runnin right.

Default huntin fool

never really worked on jet skis but if your turning 6500 rpms you should be going faster than that. i know most jet skis run in the 7-7500 rpm range at full throttle but 6500 you should be getting more speed than that. check your shaft going out to the impeller. get under the trailer and look through the intake screen and see if you can see some rope, bag or something wrapped up in the impeller shaft. other thing i would do is maybe check the plugs and see if you have one filed. one bad plug could affect your performnce.
