Versamax corks
The boat monkey corks I use are a little over four bucks a pop. These things are a little over $6.50 for a two pack. Not bad price wise. It seems pretty solid. Nice heft to them. I don't know how I feel about wrapping my line around the nubs but we'll see how that turns out. Sure makes a lot of noise. Has anyone else played with these yet? |

Looks like a unique variation of a similar popping cork i've used. Definitely an improvement... although the originals made by Comal and Almeda sold at Walmart and other sporting goods were definitely very good on trout and reds.
I do like the ability to change the rattle sound thats pretty cool, and to be able to open them up and change or whatever is a good option. If they are similar to the above brands, they'll be good. As for wrapping the line I never had a problem but I used at least 12lb mono... and later 20lb leader material in the nubs as you call them. Braid will only slip. So if you use braid, you have to tie on a mono or Fluoro leader and run that through the nubs. |

I played with it last night. Used some 20lb mono on the nubs. It defiantly clicks in the gaps and nicks the line. Also tried it on 30# braid. I used 8 wraps each side and it didn't move. We shall see tomorrow.
