Default Old Steam Engine History

This question came up the other day, no one knew the answer so I figured someone on here might know. Where did the old steam engine come from at the washout on the west side of Big Lake? I know there was a civil war battle around Monkey Island and one of the yankee gunboat's steam engines was damaged, I wonder if that is it?

Not a clue Pat but I sure hope someone can answer this for you so I can learn it also. I've often wondered the same thing, just never thought to ask.

Buddy can give the details, it's not a steam engine, it's a diesel engine from an old tugboat. The whole story as in the Am Press a while back.

Mr. Block died a couple of years ago. He wrote some fantastic books about the Sabine/Cameron areas.

He was from Texas, but his family was from the Cameron and Sabine Pass areas. He did a lot of book signing and told stories about books he was going to write. Great guy. Great stories. He knew a lot about local history.
