Default Looking for sugestions neworleans

My wife and i are bringing the kids to neworleans for a couple of days, and was wondering if anyone had any sugestions as of places that are family freindly or any places to eat? We are bringing them to the aqaurium, insectorarium (sp) and the butterfly gardens, but was just wanting to see if anyone has any other ideas for some family fun?

Thanks, dgg

I was in new Orleans last weekend for a bachelor party so I can't give family friendly advice, but if you're lookin for a good burger go to port of call. Voted 3rd best burger in the country and I believe it after tryin one. If you need to park somewhere for the day go to Harrah's and park in the garage. Then take your ticket to the poker room to get it validated, no questions asked and you have free parking for 24 hours. Good luck

There is also the childrens museuem which is nice. Deanies is a good place to eat. Make sure you take them on trolley ride also.

And the #1 coolest thing your kids will talk about and it takes $2 and 30 minutes of your time. Take them on the Canal Street Ferry, it's in between the Riverwalk and the Aquarium, you ride your car/truck on it and cross the river, they will think its the coolest thing in the world, mines did.

Jimmy Buffets has a nice atmosphere even for kids and a decent burger.

If you have a little girl they have a "Pink" Store on Decatur, everything in the store is pink, my little girl likes it. (not sure if you have one)

You mentioned the insectarium, it's really not that big, but your kids will have fun. The butterfly exhibit in it is pretty cool.

We always watched an Imax documentary after we got done with aquarium.

Bubba Gumps is a good place to eat, with all the Forrest Gump memorabillia. Ralph and Kacoo's is a great seafood place, if its still there. Some things to do uptown as well, not just in the quarter area.

Deanies is my only can't miss and The Alibi has better burgers than the port of call but its a bar and they not going to let the kids in. If you like Pizza there is a pizza place towards the esplanade side of royal called Mona Lisa Pizza little place with really good pizza. And not very expensive. Also you can take a carriage it's like 40-60 bucks and they give you a nice little tour of the quarter.

Umm, what else. Saturday there should be a cruise ship in port you can bring the kids on the riverwalk and let them check that out.

Dragos is also very good its in the Hilton Riverside, get the Lobster Empire...... its a steamed lobster slpit in half and covered with and oysters in a cream sauce with pasta............very good!
