We had 5 deer for 6 hunters this weekend. Got one Friday morning and one Saturday evening in the wind. They were feeding on honey locust beans

What's the duck situation up there? I know a guy that has a camp around there but doesn't know any of the rules for ducks.

open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays and there are some areas you can not hunt so need to check the pamphlet.

used to be that the last 2 weekends of the season you could bring as many people as you could hide and kill limits now its spotty. Have some awesome memories and pics from those days. Had a huge planted field for wintering waterfowl and mid-winter counts would be 100k+ ducks on the refuge. Waterfowl is no longer the primary focus so that field was planted back in trees. Pretty place though

Hunters Bend trail was open until the field, it was closed after at least before this weekend. Can you clarify if it was open all the way to the end or just to the field.

Thanks a bunch.

Oh yeah. Each of those areas is about 5,000 acres. Easy to potlick.

I'll be in Sharkey as usual. Just curious.

we have a camp in the Crystal unit. The Crystal check station was closed so had to go to New Bridge to check out any deer. There were a couple other check stations closed as well, so may want to see ahead of time.

I stay at Hunter's Bend campground so I hunt that area.

Weather not looking great for the primitive this weekend.
