I'll start. Probably at least a hundred different choices. I like to keep it simple with a Haydel DR-85. Cheap. Easy to blow for a starter, and the occasional chunk of Levi Garrett doesn't affect the sound.

Its all personal preference man. Some people like duck commander, some like riceland, some like RNT.

I prefer Faulk's and Haydel, but that's me. Best I can suggest is go and try a few. If you don't want to get too deep into it, try Haydel, Faulk's, DC, or whatever you feel comfortable spending on. I've always been a fan of Haydel and Faulk's because their calls sound great and they don't cost you an arm and a leg.

I'd probably go with a single reed first. Faulk's has a good CD to listen to if you don't know how to call or if you don't have anyone to teach you. DC has some good videos as well. I think its The Art of Commanding Ducks 2.

Haydel's DR 85 or a Primos Wench. Both easy to blow and sound good, also double good as a teal call.

Start out on the lower end calls until you really know how to blow them then you can move up to the RNT and Riceland calls. The cheaper calls will kill just as many ducks as the expensive ones.

Wench is probably easier to blow of the two.

There's one thing no one has mentioned...you don't have to blow your call the whole time you are in the blind....sometimes knowing when not to call will bring in the ducks just as good as the best calling.

Default Duck Calls

DR 85 is a great call; very forgiving and easy to blow. You can also control the pitch and raspiness after some practice to sound more realistic.

The Primo's Winch is the great as well, I would buy both if I were you.

Stay away from the pretty custom calls or any duck calls over $40.00.

I should make another one with the new call I just got In. Redleg LT-1, sounds pretty ducky for a single reed.

LT-1 if you like single reeds. Loud and can get quiet as well. I have it on a sound clip already can you post those?
