Default Opening Weekend 11/14-11/15

Where's everybody going hunting at on opening weekend? I'll be heading to Shell Island for our annual trip with a few friends. We've been going out there on opening weekend every year for about the last 10 years. If anybody would like to tag along or meet us out there, let me know. We'll be staying at the campsite across from the Game Warden camp. A few of us are leaving Friday morning to do some scouting, set everything up and start cooking/drinking. We'll be staying til Sunday morning after the hunt.

I'll be in Biglake in our marsh....hopefully opening morning is better than last years, did not even see a duck. Ike messed it up pretty bad on top of what Rita did to it but we are starting to get some grass back now.

I just talked to my father in law who was in Pecan Island today (south end). He told me the water is still high but they did see a lot more birds that last weekend.

She's worried about me being too tired. I owe it to her though. She came up to the camp last weekend and wanted me to hunt Sunday evening since I hadn't killed a deer yet. We didn't get home till 11 Pm that night. She stuck it out.

I'll be in Vinton assuming we get blinds grassed this weekend, been seeing promising amounts of ducks last few trips. My poor lab wants to pick up his first duck so bad he's chasing butterflies and beetles at night.
