Id be suprised to see the 225 sho faster than the 225 Pro XS, Maybe even The regular Obama Max. Not by much, but possibly.
Reason being I Know of three of the exact same hulls 1 running a VMAX HPDI 225 Running 60mph, another running a 225 Obama Max running 62mph, and another running a VMAX SHO 225 running 60-61mph. And the 225 pro XS has more HP. Now this is one paticular brand of boat some motors act diffrient on diffrient hulls. JMO

The compressors are probably the most problematic item on the Optimax. They can fail with no warning. But, when they do, you have to change out all 6 plugs, and sometimes, an injector. If you want to keep your compressor from qitting on you, there is way. It requires the lower cowling to be removed. On the port side of the motor, there is a plastic filter that screws into the lower part of the head. This filter, if clogged, will shorten your compressor life span. If you stay out of the shallows, you shouldn't have a problem. Like Montauk stated, shells and grasses can cause the compressor to overheat and fail. It's our biggest problem at the lodge, along with lower units.

Sorry I was talking about the 250sho being faster than a 225 merc. 225 v/s 225 or 250 v/s 250, the Merc still wins.

I agree with that, I didn't make myself clear in what I was saying about the SHO. I was talking about a 250sho being faster than a 225. 225 v/s 225, the Merc is still faster.

I say a 250 SHO may be able to run with a 225 obama max, but not the XS.

I would go up against at 250 sho.... I bet I could take it,,,,, 1st part is you have to know how to drive a boat..not any dummy can run a boat to full potential.....a 250 sho on a 24ft Hayine would run....but Merc is faster!!! Paint it Black!

I'm up to back somebody on that bet. Find someone with your boat with a 250 sho v/s your 225 and I will back the sho. It will be close but I think the sho edges you in the long run.
