Anyone ever been bitten by a brown recluse?
I have them around the place and got bit by a spider this am in my shed. Very painful w/ a small hole that is constantly draining.
Didnt get a look at the spider as when i felt the bite i swatted it away.
How long b4 i can tell ???

Yes indeed! Get it checked out quick. The venom starts to kill the tissue and you'll have a bad situation to deal with.

I have no idea how long it takes to "look" bad...just know horror stories about the after effects and the surgeries to get rid of the poison and area that it kills. I'd imagine you can google some info on it?

It eats the tissue from the inside out I think.

A guy that worked for me got bit by one on the ankle last year while he was bush hogging, he said it stung like a wasp sting, within an hour Dr had to cut his jeans pants leg to get them off. It swole up that bad around his thigh, It was BAD! Within a couple days he had a hole around his ankle the size of a tennis ball! He had to get a skin graft.

Did some research and the brown recluse does not allways cause necrosis. It is considered rare compared to the number of folks that get bit. So far all i have is a very sore bite and little to no swelling . The itching has stopped and it has quit oozing. If it looks any worse tomorrow i'll get to the doctor but i think it will be good.

When I got bit, I contacted my Dr. and he said if I felt the bite then I had nothing to worry about. He said the recluse will bite you and you will not feel anything immediately.

Go to the doctor! I got bit by one on the ankle and it got to the point that they thought they were going to have to cut off my foot. My entire leg was the size of my thigh for about to weeks. Also your immune system goes way down and you are very susceptible to staph and thatswhen it gets really bad. Keep us posted and good luck.

I got bit by one b/w my ankle and calf when I was in high school. Never felt the bite. Just noticed a sore on my leg and it was oozing just like you are saying. It was never painful. Luckily it didnt get bad enough for surgery or anything. Went to the doctor and he drained it and told me if it got worse they were going to have to put my leg in hyperbaric chamber, I dont know why they wanted to do that. But it got better. I still have a pretty good scar from it and that was almost 10 years ago. Go get it checked out.

Default ok

Went and got it checked by my sawbones.
He looked at it and did a culture . Said that in his poinion it was a spider bite but he didn't think it was a recluse . Did the culture to check for staph i guess.
Told me just to watch it close and if anything changed get back w/ him.
