Default Pecan Island Report- Holy Thursday Report

Well me and a friend when out of PI last Thursday... We launched @rollover...

A friend had given me a report they had caught some RS and ling in sate waters the Saturday before...

We off we went armed with some pogie, and chum made of macaroni and nibblet corn... Wanted to stop at at weir to get some live bait, but friend left his castnet .. I lost my $ 170 custom handmade net at the Game warden camp last fall.(Note to Self...Don't throw a expensive castnet at the wiers.)

Well when we got to platform my firend caught them at... Water was iffy.. But my Depthfinder Lit up like a Xmas tree with Biggggg Snapps...

We spent 2 hrs trying to get them to bite.. Nada... I said to my friend lets go explore to the west...

Off we went... We got in the E Cameron area in state waters the water color changed to a very nice blue green with about 10' of vis...

First platform we stoppped at.. First drop with some cut bait.. Rod doubled over.. As the Snap was coming up about 10-15 other snaps came swimming up.. We caught and released about 50 snaps up to 15# all in 42-46' of water.

We kept our 4 snaps about 7-8# and one 6-7# mangrove..If we would have had live bait, (Croakers) more mangroves would have hit the deck...

Very nice. Glad to see you could find some mangroves mixed in with all those endangered red snapper.
