Default 8/17/17 - Hot trip

My brother and law and I took off work for his birthday and headed to the marsh mid morning. It got hot quick and we kept hoping for a shower. The fish bit off and on all day. We caught 30-35 total but kept 20. It never rained and the cloud cover was sparse. Without the stiff breeze we would have come in a lot earlier. We caught them on paddletails and plastic worms. This is probably our last trip to the Burns for the year since it closes this weekend. I guess we may try for some reds in the upcoming weeks or hit the Calcasieu some. Fishing in the shade will definitely be nice.

Thanks for the report.
I guess I need to relearn the front part of the Burns. It changed a lot after Rita.
I'm hoping for a colder winter this year; maybe it'll help the major hyacinth problem in the east part of the marsh.

Yeah. A cold winter and a bunch of surface drives to clear out some more of the trails would be nice.
