Jack plate
It had a 6 inch hydraulic and 6 inch manual jack plate. We just took off the manual plate and left the hydraulic one on. He is debating rather to take both off or just leave the manual or hydraulic. He wants to know pros and cons of each and what they are used for. He's never used one on a boat |

a hydraulic jack plate can be adjusted while driving your boat, even at full speed it requires a lil maintenance. a manual JP has to have the side bolts loosen before it can be adjusted. Did the previous owner have both plates on at the same time for a 12" setback? i'd call the basscat and see what they recommend, I would have also ran the boat see what the top speed was and then read the test speeds for your boat and motor to see if it is already getting maximum performance?

id leave the hydraulic on there, most of the time people have a 12" set back its one plate and its with a 250hp motor on a longer boat.

I'm not at their house anymore
It's a pantera but I don't know if it's a classic. It's an amazing boat. Got all kind of electronics that amaze me. ESP since it's a 93. There isn't a scratch on the boat |

I think I recall my friend sayin 6" was the most bass cat recommended for that boat/ motor

6" of setback is plenty for any bass boat 150 horsepower or smaller. Alot of people belive the more setback you have the more lift you will get. That is only true in high horsepower setups that can put the extra lift to use.

Yak 'em, Bass Cat will void the warranty on a JP over 6". They may allow an 8", but I'm not positive on that. The JP is supposed to be held with 6 bolts. The hydraulic allows you to raise the motor for shallow idleing (*sp) in tidal waters or especially at Toledo Bend, so you don't have to trim your motor way up and can avoid some stump. I have a BC Cougar I take to Lake Martin. I'll jack up the motor and take off, while getting up, i'll push the button lowering it. It makes it nice for shallow take off. It's a Bob's btw.
