Cheers Browning Silver Hunter or Beretta 3901???

I am in the market for an auto-loader, and have narrowed my choices to the Browning Silver Hunter or Beretta 3901...Both guns have great reviews, and both are available in camo, but the 3901 is not available in 3 1/2." I really don't shoot 3 1/2" very often, but would like the option for geese and turkey. But I guess when it comes down to it, I would be willing to go without the 3 1/2" since I still have my Express Super Mag...I am still offshore, but when I get back in I plan on shouldering both to see which gun fits best....Question is, any of you guys shoot either of these and can provide any feedback? Really looking to spend less than $1000, but if I stay out here too much longer I may just break down and get the Extremma2!!!

Cheers!

Both nice guns but if I wasnt looking at getting the Extrema, I would go with the Browning.

I had the extrema and then when the extrema 2 came out I got it and have never looked back. I used to hunt with a Brownning BPS, it was much heaveir and I felt slower on my swing with that gun. I know most Beretta's are built to last I have had 3 all together and never had a problem with any of them...The extrema 2 is all I use for everything from doves, ducks, skeet...Sorry I could not help more on the 3901.

I have been shooting the Black Extrema 1 for four years, I mostly hunt geese so the 3 1/2 is a very nice option when needed, I have shot 3 1/2's in the morning rain, shot low brass 7 1/2's in the afternoon at skeet, gun has never misfired or jammed since I put the first round in it, the best gun I have ever owned, I like the Black finish better than the camo.

I bought 2 3901s last month. A 12 and a 20.

Put over 400 rounds through each so far without an issue.

I heard the Extrema II is being discontinued.

Bretta came out with the A400 Unico. My uncle recently got one, nice gun I rather the feel of my Benelli Vinci. Looks pretty much like the Xtrema except for the stock. I would go with a Bretta over a Browing any day in regards to shotguns. The 3901 are nice autos.

Browning Silver for sure. I have the silver in black ,never an issue with it. I work as a guide and my guns go thru hell ,also all I shoot is 3.5 all duck season. I also have the Gold and the new Maxus . The Maxus is by far the best of the three, I wouldnt shoot anything else. My check depends on it.

I have a 390 which is basically the older version of the 3901. I love it. Very simple and reliable. I don't miss the 3 1/2" at all, but I also don't hunt geese anymore. The extrema 2 is a cool gun, but if you don't need the 3 1/2", the 3901 is a very good gun for the money. Not putting down browning, but berreta makes some fine products.

I won a 3901 Target RL in a raffle this year, and must say that thing is sweet!!! It's a shorter length of pull designed mainly for kids and women, but from what I read its the same design as the 3901. Can't wait to add the spacers so it fits better because that thing is friggin' smooth. I would highly suggest it.

Yeah, I really like the scaled down humpback (from the A5) at the receiver...Even tho seems like most of the guys here on the forum favor the beretta's, the reviews for the browning silver are solid!

Have you had problems with shell feeding from the magazine to the chamber? I did, and when I brought my gun back to the dealer they said it was a common issue.

I would get the Maxus over the Extrema 2 but the SBE II over the Maxus! Extrema 2 is a very dependable gun. Especially for people that don't take care of em. They will always shoot no matter what. My Benelli must be cleaned at least once a month or I'll start having issues cause it's not gas operated like Brownings and Berettas. I just dont like the feel of an Extrema. But They are all personal preference. Just shoulder them all and see which one you like best. That Maxus is sweet though. Very light and shoulders well. My cousin just bought one a few weeks ago. Come on November 12th!

I bought a 3901 a few months ago and love it so far. Haven't hunted with it yet, but have put 200 rounds through it. My brother has the 3901 and has hunted with it many times and he let me borrow his once and I was hooked. It shoots great and the price is right.

Nope never any problems with any of my Brownings. None of the guys I know with them have had that issue that I know of .
