sure loved layin down 3 spoonies with 3 shots, i did all the cleaning up today jonathon missed that pintail 3 times then i got him first shot go figured, like I said earlier drake did outstanding other than the one in the grass. Picked up all 4 spoonies on the 1st try for each and I just stood in the grass outside the blind and lined him up, did the same on the pintail it fell on the left side of where you were sitting in the blind and drake didnt see it hit the water so i got out in front of the blind and lined him up and off he went. Was loving every minute of it as you can see from the pics. good luck in the am

also didnt put out the robo due to an executive decision by jonathon and had only the spoonies decoy the pintail were just fly bys and there were only 3 of them and they were real real high but got one...felt like I was skybusting in the refuge lol. we had some ducks heading straight for us like saturday, they would cup up then get close and right at the edge of the decoys turn left and leave, should have put out the robo so now i know i guess

There's nothing wrong with spoonies, sometimes you have to skin them if the fat is pink. It depends on what they have been eating. I made an afternoon hunt with three buddies in a rice field near Thornwell - three dead pintails and one spec that didn't know he was dead and flew away like he wasn't even hurt. Too calm, better fishing weather than hunting weather. We plan to duck hunt Sabine Refuge Wed or Thurs. Watched two does play for about an hour on Saturday. I figure they are live Buck decoys.

Nice job.....As that old saying goes.....you never miss a spoon!
Heck Sunday in Kaplan I would of been happy to shoot at some spoons! For some reason, we have not seen any spoons at our lease in Kaplan. Only bagged one so far this year and it was a hen! I like to shoot the hens....helps delete the population quicker! |

i just like to shoot, heard a lot of shooting saturday and sunday from what sounded like the sabine refuge area, thought about making a trip out there but haven't been out there since both hurricanes heard they closed some canals down and what not. I guess I'll just keep killing my four and five a trip in johnsons bayou, as fool said better than scratching.

I went to Creole, Grand Chenier, Chenier Perdu and Lil Chenier yesterday delivering
Christmas Presents before I go offshore. I saw lots of Spoonies and Grays, and a few teal. Not many other big ducks. |

only saw that one flock of spoonies, saw some mallards, probably 50 teal and some mottled, and a lot of high flying pintail, good bit of greys but suprisingly the greys didnt even come close to decoying

Gray's are bad about landing about 20 yards out of range during the second split.
They know it will pizz you off. |

a lot of our birds knew exactly where they wanted to go and that was it, thinking about trying to add a few more robos to the spread for **** and giggles seemed like it helped saturday after we didn't put it out sunday

If they don't have the Teal, the doves might do the trick also.. |
