Default Redfish and crabs grand isle

Friday started crabbing with kids and as fast as you could hang the chicken on the string line the crabs were on them. 9 dozen in 3 hours. Then when they stopped they STOPPED. Lol.
Then fished the pass with cracked crab and hauled in some nice bulls. Waiting to see what Saturday and Sunday have in store. Kids are loving it!

That's how they are on the beach.
Glad to see you caught a few.

One more thing, I'm not saying you did or didn't but if you catch one with an orange sponge looking thing on the bottom throw it back, those are illegal to keep.

i'm stupid on this.... what is the orange sponge thing about.

thankfully I haven't encountered it yet... although my default is to never keep anything that is questionable.

Its a PonPon or a sponge. its where the eggs come out of the female crab. I've read they only lay eggs once in their lifetime.

Went to elmers this morning. No luck on speck. Saw quite a few of good reds pulled in.

Left and went t9 state park and got there for about 930 and put 14 nice 16 to 19 inch specks in the basket. Just walked out the water to get something to drink.
