Default Kayak Repair Question

Anyone used a Kayak & Canoe Welder before? I found one online for about $60, but curious if any of you guys have opinion.

I've got a Heritage 14 Redfish that I guess has been getting too much sun being stored in Raymond's yard since I don't have room in my apartment. Got a horizontal crack under the lip of seat area that is spreading with pressure of sitting. Also, have some repair to do where one of the seat anchors has stripped out. Any suggested fixes other than the welder kit?

Maybe call one of this companies who make the plastic tanks. I know they repair stuff like that. They should know enough the help you. Might even donor for you. We had one of them repair a water tank for a camper once. Gave they guy some deer sausage and some beer. He was happier that we were.

If it really is damage from UV I doubt there is much you can do to repair it. It will be very brittle and unless you could find a way to put a reinforcing patch that extends well beyond the damage I think you'll be fighting a losing battle.

That being said here's a good YouTube video on repair.

Thanks for the help! The seat anchor crack behind the back of the seat does seem to be a little brittle, but I'm not as worried about that as I am the one at the base of the seat, which is basically in the floor. I think will work out. Video is a huge help.
