Default Shimano Caius vs Lews American Hero for a low budget reel?

Votes and onions on these two for a low budget trout/redfish reel?

This is gonna sound a little weird...but I got a h2o mettle for 40 bucks from academy on hot deal, and it outcasts my citica, curado, and lews. My buddy told me the same and I didn't believe him until I tried it. That h2o stuff is legit.

Legit for about 2-3 months. Shimano or Lews if you want something that will last.

I guess I've just had good luck with my h2o. My shimano curado is acting dumb right now so I'm a little butthurt about it to be honest.

I have Lew's bait caster and spin reel and love both of them. My Curado is nice but for the price, give me a Lews

I'm a shimano guy but at that price range the lews really wins out. A buddy of mine got one and I used it for a couple of hours. I was really impressed.

I have 15 of the H2O's 4 years old and no problems with any of them. All fresh water use though, salt water will probably take a lot more cleaning etc.

H2O's aren't bad if you keep them in fresh water. The lower end lews are awesome reels for their price. I don't own the Hero edition, but I do own 7 or so of the 90 dollar models, and a few of the higher end ones also. The only bad thing I've found is one of the cheaper lews got the handle bent on it (no clue how), but it's still very much usable. Not a big fan of their spinning reels though.

Curado HG? Mine gave me trouble after about 2 months. Returned it and got me another Chronarch. I wish they still made the Curado 200es those were the best bang for the buck especially right before they discontinued them. I picked up several for 140

I have the model that came immediately after the 200e. Those things were awesome. I think mine is a G.
