Default Vb west side windy day

I wanted to watch the Outdoor Channel and eat all day but my boy was itching to wet a line. We looked at the radar and we had a couple hour window of good weather - so we loaded up and left the house at 11am. I wasn't expecting to catch much with the 20+mph ESE wind and figured we'd just fish around the Intracoastal or the mouth of 4-mile cut - but was surprised to see that the bay wasn't that rough...and the water was nice - so we ran to Fearman. We anchored down and fished a protected point. We ended up catching a decent box of fish. My son reeled in 6 reds and 3 blue cats while I played net boy. The big blue cat was 13lbs. The 2nd pic is of some marsh deer eating clovers at the GW camp. His highlights of the day were catching the big catfish and getting to drive the boat back from Fearman to ICY landing. I showed him how to avoid crab traps and follow the GPS. It ended being a great day not wasted sitting on the sofa.

Another banner day, sweets. You must be dumping some kind of fish attractant in the water. That's what I'll tell myself, cuz you tear em up compared to what I've been doing.

Man thats awesome. Especially with a that funky weather yesterday. What did the water temp make it up to? Saturday morning at sunrise it was 42, by the end of the day it was 47. The first time my dad let me drive the boat across Fearman I was about 12 and he about had a heart attack yelling about me to follow the poles. When you teach your boy that lesson, make sure the tide is up.

I didn't teach him to follow the poles lesson just yet. I'm not brave enough to run across Fearman this time of year in my boat. I got stuck in there once and it took me an hour+ to get out. I made the mistake of getting off of step right in the middle of it. Chalked that up as a lesson learned. We ran in the bay around Redfish point back to 4-mile cut instead of crossing Fearman. I forgot to look at the water temp yesterday but it probably came up some. The air temp was 65+ it was just really windy. With the cold front blowing in this week I'm sure it'll push the water temp back down to the low 40s.
