20lb powerpro is what I use with a 20lb mono or flouro leader and I have hustled in a 10 and 12 pound red with no worries. But if your going just for big reds powerpro 40lb you won't have to worry bout a thing lol

I like 30lb power pro. I use a fluorocarbon leader 20lb. I lost a couple good ones yesterday but they would use the rocks to wear out the leader. They also use there gills and fins to break your line. They don't get that big being dumb. Lol. This is just my 2 cents bro. Good luck.

Suffix 30 lb moss green braid with 20# big game mono leader. I gave on Fluoro for reds, not enough stretch imo.

FINs braid. 30lb test with a 20lb. Berkley vanish flurocarbon liter. I use it everyday I found it to be the best to use trout and reds.

I use 12 lb. mono. Not many problems if you use a 20 lb. florocarbon leader and keep an eye on the mono.
When it looks like the it is starting to look different, scraped, scratched, change it out, or cut off 20 ft. or so. |

Inchspinner, this is what I was talking about last week. The spot where the shrimpers told you about.

30 pound braid will handle anything you need. There is no need for a leader unless the water is crystal clear. I rarely use a leader even in Toledo Bend and don't see a difference.

I have caught many 25+ lb fish without breaking off. I once caught a 39" long Red on 10 lb mono......it took a long, long time to land it. |

Light tackle fights are way too fun. If they get off, fine. If not, fine. I have caught up to 40 lb. fish on 12 lb. mono. |

This was while fishing at the Jetties with my daughter. Hooked that fish and pulled up the anchor to move away from other boats. It took a little over an hour and drifted over a mile. After 30 minutes I started putting more pressure on the fish. It was going to come in or I was going to snap the line. The 10 lb line held.

Suffix 832! I have used almost all brands and it takes the cake! Smooth as silk and it sinks unline most braids.

Amb. 6000 w/15lb test w/ a 20 lb fluoro leader on a 7ft heavy action rod. It does the trick on bull reds and drum. |
