They sent a inspector to look at the boat and take pictures. The next step is to get a quote from a dealer. I'm taking it to Lake Area Marine on Tuesday so they can send a quote to Geico. I'll let update everyone and let you know how Geico handles my claim.

And in 2 weeks or 2 months you can listen to the bearings chirp, right before they lock up. Speaking from experience. |

Not if he would of done that right away after it was pulled from the water. If the plugs would of been pulled and gotten the water out right away and would of poured oil in the cylinders and gotten all the water out and sprayed the whole engine down with some silicon spray it would of been ok. Speaking from experience also. BUT NOW IT IS TO LATE TO DO IT AND EXPECT IT NOT TO DO WHAT YOURS DID.

That is a scary sight because I have a boat very much like it.Xpress 22'. I am pretty sure that I have a functioning auto bilge. Prolly wont total it. dry it out and go fish.

And how would you do that? Isn't the hull able to have water in it at some time or other? do you understand that most of the stuff in a boat is marine stuff and usually can withstand water? Just wondering .

All wiring, gauges, all motor electronics,etc.. Stuff that shouldn’t be indundated with water would all have to be changed. If it doesn’t total I’d be surprised!!

This what I was told. All the electronics and connections are water resistant. They are not made to withstand being submerged in water for long periods of time. Every boat has problems with corrosion even in areas that are dry.

A buddy just had this happen, they totaled it, He bought it for salvage value from the insurance company, and then rewired it, replaced electronics, and had the engine repaired.
Just saw it in the water Sunday, it runs great! |
