Default Fishing line?

Well I know this subject probably has been discussed but I'm new on this site. What is the best fishing line for specks and artificial lures? I'm not liking my fishing line and tried a few but don't want to spend a ton of money trying them out. Also what type of rod would be preferred to fish specks . I'm currently using my duckket 7'3" med heavy.

I don't know if its best but this is what I use. i like Lie a few different ones for different things. We just had this discussion so if you don't get a lot of recommendations just do a search for fishing line. Most of my rods are either falcon coastal or h20 express inshore series. From 6'6 to 7'6 med lite or med. I would only uses a med heavy for rig fishing or throwing something that was really heavy. I use med heavy for spinner or rattle traps. Falcons run about 90$ and h20's range from 40-150$. My reels are shimano chronearchs or curado E. Most of my reels are strung with Berkley Big Game 12# or 15#. I have two with 50# power pro. I just restrung my med lite poles with PLine CX 12# because it cast a lot better than big game and is really strong but it cost 3x more than big game. But I would say it all depends on what kind of bait you are fishing and what reel you are using. The "best" is subjective but all of these have worked well for me and I've tried a bunch.

The best thing you can do is try different things and see what you like best. For artificial I use 30# power pro and will use. A fluoro leader when the water gets clear. For top water I use 17 pound Cajun red mono or big game.

Lure weight will dictate rod choice. A big old mirrolure she dog weighs an ounce by itself and thats a pain to cast that with a whippy popping cork rod.

For the light weight stuff (popping corks, plastics on 1/16-1/4 oz jigheads, small spoons, smaller mirrolures) I really like a Shimano Crucial CRSSG70MB. Its a 7 medium with a fast action and rated 1/8-3/8 oz lure weights.

I like using 30 lb Power Pro Braid and 12-15# Berkley Big Game for mono.

For mono I like the Big Game or Ande Back Country 10-15 lb.
Fluoro Vanish in 20lb.
