Default bambi sightings

Tried our luck on our lease in Desoto Parish this past weekend. Only one buck seen, but couldn't get a shot on it, but we did see a few does with little ones tagging along so held our fire. According to what I saw in the paper today, looks like the rut might be on this weekend so we're going to try again. Happy hunting to all.

the best way to know when the rut is on is to be in the woods and see it first hand, not from what the paper says...

the more time spent in a tree, the better your chances are of course.

I took that approach for a few years then shifted to a "less is more" hunting approach that was much more successful.

It turned out the land we were hunting was small and deer were sensitive to the all the scent we would leave behind and become nocturnal, avoiding our hunting property in the day time when our activity levels rose.

We learned to wait for ideal conditions, hunt the wind, and not push too hard, letting things settle down for a while between hunts. Planning ingress and egress for stand hunting to reduce crossing of deer trails helped too.

Default better luck this weekend

son shot a nice 8pt Friday afternoon. A nice "basket 8" that weighed 135 lbs. Had to cut the rest of the weekend short when we had a family emergency back home.

Can someone point me toward a tutorial that shows how to upload pics to this site? thx
