Default Rig fishing.

Has anyone ever done any rig fishing from their kayak? I noticed on a map that there's a couple rigs within paddling distance of the beach a little ways West of Holly Beach. I was wondering if anyone had ever made the paddle out there or if it would even be worth my trouble. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Drew

Check out the show Off the hook Extreme Catches. He hooked up with a guy that does it, pretty awesome.

Also caught sharks on a paddle board and offshore fished from jet skis

Rigs are further than it looks. Closest small rig is at least 5 miles from shore and that is single pole rig

Google earth shows a few rigs withing 3 miles of the beach between the Calcasieu and Sabine Jetties. One smaller rig is even closer to the beach than the end of the Sabine jetties so that the jetties would afford some protection from waves with a due west wind.

If you paddle to any rig off the Beach around Cameron it is going to take you hours to get there and hours to get back and then of weather pops up

Hold on !!

Get on Texas Kayak fishermans website... they do it weekly out of Galveston. As long as you don't go alone! and have all your safety equipment with you u will be fine... you will mainly only catch Kings, Spanish and sharks tho.

Ok. Thanks for the input from all. I've been fishing the West Cove a few times this year, but I was looking to get into something a little different on my next trip down that way. After looking at a map, it's definitely doable, I guess I'll just have to find someone crazy enough to go with me.

Any tips for spanish and kings out there? Might be workable on a calm day in our 16 ft aluminum boat.
