Default Spin Rod/Reels for Trip?

Guys,

My wife and I are going to Panama for our 30th anniverisary next spring. I am starting to assemble the little bit of tackle I need to take down with me. According to my buddy who has been there a ton the boats have great gear in heavier stuff but no so much for the lighter end. So he has recommended three setups, one of which I already have. Being a flyfisherman (yes I will be flyfishing on this trip) I don't have a real good handle on conventional stuff so am looking for some advice.

I am looking at picking up a 10-20# and 15-30# class outfits. Three piece (or even two piece) travel rods and spinning reels. Since we have a winter home down on the gulf I would like to buy something that will last a while and is something we can use down there. I have a bunch of redfish/trout gear already but never know when I may get an invite to go for other stuff.

So please throw out some ideas?

Thanks,

Steve

My Spinning Reels are Daiwa Black Gold Reels and get the size you want.
Still make parts for them but not made in Japan like mine were.
Lanky, not smooth, but they are easy to clean/last.
I got some that are around 20 years old that I used in the surf, cleaned up, and still ticking.

Travel rods I don't know probably be companies like Temple Fork that would make something specialized.

Fly fishing it depends. When I was stationed in Central America near the coast and my fly reel was a cheap Pflueger reel and made a leather palming tip for it, Islander which picked up used from a guide, and Penn fly reel. This was back in early 1990's which now I am sure they got a lot more options today.

What kind of fishing are you looking to do with these setups, and what species are you targeting?

Dont know much about travel rods, but for reels I would go with a saragosa 6000 or 8000 or if budget is no concern a stella 5000 or 6000
