Dont want to piss anybody off here but ive been hearing from a lot of people that carrot stix have gone way down in quality. I was using one a few months ago and while casting it, it snapped in half!!!! Brought it back to academy in Lafayette and they gave me store credit. While looking at a new one a random guy came up to me and said, i wouldnt buy that if i was you. We talked about them for a while and in the mean time the manager herd us talking and said they had been seeing more and more carrot stix breaking after only a few weeks of use. Dont know if theres any diffrence but it was a salty carrot i was using.

Carrot stix are garbage. I've finally settled down and found rods that I like. Castaway Skeletons.

I saw this the other day on basspro. Looks like a new 2012 rod so it would be weird for them to bring out a new rod if they are going under. They do not have any in stock though so who knows.

Sensitive to breaking.

I have 2 companies of rods in my bass boat. Castaway, and I have 1 falcon strictly for flukes. I've broken 4 carrot stix. That's garbage.

That's the only falcon in my boat. I've broke one falcon, but it was way overloaded, hard to blame it on the rod. Flipping a 6 lb fish out of heavy cover with a medium action rod usually doesn't have a good outcome. Good rod for sure.
I just decided to switch awhile back to the skeletons and I love em.
