Default Grand Isle in November

Just had a blast on GI with my family, and some family from St. Louis. We caught big shrimp in the surf, crabs right off the jetties, and some nice trout and sheepshead off the pier. Another group now wants to plan a trip in November, and I'm wondering if any of these things will be possible then. We aren't picky. Anything fishy would work. And if it's isn't possible from those locations, I'm assuming the guides are still pounding it out there. Just looking for a little help on what that place is like around Thanksgiving. Thanks!

November is not a good weather month because cold fronts blow in during this time of the year. If you can go on short notice, it could be a good trip.

in cold weather crabs pretty stop biting to where you can catch them because they aren't active and wont move far or hold onto baits like in warmer weather and the trout move to deeper waters I(E not on the beaches) so not the best time for trout on the beach but they can be found in deeper holes if you know where to go and have a boat, otherwise a guided trip or just targeting redfish is your best bet in wintertime.

along with the many winter cold fronts, you will most often have very windy conditions as the norm and rough dirty water to contend with as well

Lots of trout to be caught north of grand isle in November. Not so much on the island. They will be in the marsh. You can catch them off the side of highway 1 sometimes. A boat is helpful that time of year.

I have found that Nov can be great in GI. Your own private island, as all of the summer crowds are gone. Football and hunting, kids in school, etc. We like the mild weather and like others have said 'watch the weather'. It can be very good. And the redfish bite in the passes is typically very good.

Call Capt Danny Wray at Calmwater Charters. He is a full time resident guide on GI and can make sure you have a great trip. http://www.calmwatercharters.net/#!f...charters/c24i2

If things are slow in Caminda pass (rare, but it happens), trailer your boat over to Belle Pass.
