Default Question lafayette fisherman

alright fellas

i was just playing around with the driving distance by car

launch in Berwick (1 hr drive) fishing in at fishing grounds 2 hours vs driving to cocodrie to launch. (2 1/2 hour drive) at fishing grounds in 3 +hours

if you had the means to do so (by boat motor 50 Gallons). launch in Berwick head down the river through 4 league bay (34 miles). fishing there then head through the marsh head east (6 miles) and fish merchant lake or sister lake or that west side cocodrie dulac area.... would you do it?

a typical round trip day on vermillion bay is 60 miles

the fishing option are there, almost unlimited

what do you think about the fishing opportunity

89 miles to Cal point big lake

72 miles to Berwick pickets out of oyster bayou sister lake metchant southwest side dulac area fishing grounds.

cocodrie west fishing.

I always prefer the longer drive by truck than a longer boat ride. Too much can happen when on the water. Also, this time of year the fish are close to the launches. I fish in cocodrie this time of year and start fishing a mile from the launch. Same goes for Point Au Chien area and Leeville.

I always make the longer truck ride. Cooler in summer and warmer in winter. 3-4 years ago we went to PAC every weekend. Once there only had a 5 min boat ride and some of the prettiest marsh ponds you will ever fish.

Running the Atch River can be dangerous. Definitely don't do it at night or in the fog.

2 hours from Lafayette to Dulac, fishing in less than 15 minutes from launch. Gobs of fishing areas here. Truck ride so much better than boat ride.

Falgout canal landing. Less than a 10 minute ride to Lake DeCade. It's right before the bridge on your right. Easy launch and supplies.
