what do you know in the area? The bay's and bayous around bayou sale have fish right now. I would be heading west toward the bay Antoine area right now.
I fished dularge area last week and did good. Wind will be a big factor on where u can fish.

Use a popping cork put a sparkle beetle about 2 ft below and go hunting if you spend 15 minutes without a bite. MOVE if you see any birds working stop and work them you will know real quick if it is worth your time. Trout still have not quite recovered from cold front you may have to grind it out to get a mess but the Reds never shutdown.

Shrimp on the bottom in some moving water in a cut for reds. Trout over oyster beds during a tide switch with matrix shad, green hornet. Shrimp Creole under a cork in the bay, drifting over reefs.

Don't expect every canal you see to be deep enough to run at speed. Most bayous are ok to run. Idle into a canal to determine if they have more than a foot of water in them, and then proceed. Some canals have rocks across the mouth of them that may be hidden at high tide.
If you target Reds, you can fish within site of Coco Marina. Speckled trout usually require a run to some open lakes in which they congregate. The closest to Coco is probably Deep Saline, due west of it for starters, right off the ship channel. From there, other lakes are to the southwest of Coco. The LSU marine research center (LUMCOM) is located right next to Coco, and from all around the area, you can see it's multi-story building to which you can return if you get turned around. And, as well, there is a huge oil supply terminal near Coco, which has a tall radio tower that you too can use to get back to civilization.

Went yesterday but got a lil late start. Launched at 7:30am and ended up in Felix Lake. Like I said didn't know the area so wasn't sure where to go. Caught a couple reds in lake but wind was killing us. Left lake and just trolled around in marsh. Caught some nice reds and one bull red. Never found any specks but had a good time regardless. Will definitely be making more trips to learn the area.
