Trout will be offshore with the river being so high. So if you do get a guide make sure he has a sea worthy boat. Not many guides in VBAY area.

I dont know of any personally but see them out from time to time.

there is one called burin reels charter in Lydia, just remember the sign. your best bet is to call Dagos and Heberts and see who they recommend.

I fish Big Lake most of the time and will be in southeast La a little later this year. I will be spending some time close to Vermillion Bay and have never fished it so I wanted to spend a day on the water there even though it may not be the best

It's a good 1:45 from my house here in New Iberia. I think most of the very few guides around the VB area are probably redfish charters. Is Steve Smith local to the VB area or does he just come at certain times of the year?

I would bet its only certain times of the year because the bay is not really a year round fishery.

He is local, has a camp at the point. If conditions are poor he will not take you out but reschedule for better fishing. Can be contacted on line at Stillwater Outfitters or call 337 six five four-3880. If inside is bad he fishes the reefs and Tiger Shoal area out of a 25' Shearwater.

I guide out of Dulac but I live up here. Trout are not in the bay right now up here as it's to fresh. You might do okay on Redfish in marsh island but like one of the guys before said it's not a year round fishery. Shark Bayoo can be okay for redfish at times. If you can find a guide up here that can run off shore you can find some trout. If your are just wanting to explore and someone show you around Capt Shawn Scott has a real nice 22' Black Jack. If the wind isn't to bad he can run off shore. He was on some fish a few weeks ago. He is in New Iberia. Not sure what his rates are.

Wanted to add. If you really want to experience south la fishery drive a couple hours to Cocodrie, dulac or dularge. There is no comparison which is why I guide out of there and bought a camp there. Another 30 to 45 mins and you can be in the surf at Grand Isle Elmers Island popping 20+" specks. The water down there stays good year round. There are plenty of guides down there.

If you are looking to catch redfish smoking reels charters is really good for vermillion bay. If you like to catch a good mix and don't mind going to big lake jared Adams both are good I've used then several times always had my limit .

Call Brian Romero with Smokin Reels charter. He and his son Drew are by far the best in V. Bay.
