Woodhaven "Red Wasp" diaphragm
Best mouth call there is. I don't even need to carry any other calls. |

Dink, get you a slate call or a box call - can't go wrong. It takes a while to pick up a diaphragm call. I have killed turkeys with all of them. Benefit of the diaphragm is that it frees your hands, but i think they are a pain in the butt and you can't keep a chew in your mouth :-)...

Like said, hens can make bad sounding noises. IMO.....to kill a turkey, woodsman ship is the most important part of the hunt. Calling is second. Less calling is third. Here are a couple picture of my FREAK. When hunting....I find having the slate call mounted more on the side of my leg a little easier to use it. The support string is a "must have" addition to keep the call from falling down your leg while walking. Taking the slate call off each time I move....well I just got tired of doing that. After using the striker, I slip it under the strap while sitting. But I have to remember to put the striker in my turkey vest before heading to another spot. I have had to go back and look for the striker before when I dropped it. . |

Get you a good box call. Easiest to use and will sound the best.
