We would launch at the Humble landing off of the Bell City Ditch. There were rollers off of Lacassine Bayou, and I believe 2 sets off of the Bell City ditch, and maybe one off of the Intercostal close to Lake Mis?re. We would pull over the rollers and decide where we wanted to fish...for me and my buddies back then, Phil Heimbach, Ken Yantis, Mike Burnette, Mickey Findley, Ray Langlois, Troy DeRouen, and the late Warren East our "go to" spot was the Target Area. The baits we were using back then were the 10 inch "Little Bend" Worms and when it got windy the old reliable Johnson Silver Minnow Spoon (gold color) with an Uncle Josh pork chunk (white with green spots). Back then it was not stocked with Florida Bass and a 6 lb. bass was a monster. The motor of choice was a 20 ph. Mercury...trolling motors were of no use b/c the blades were very small and made out of medal...they even had baskets to put over them but all you did was catch more grass. When you got to where you wanted to fish, especially if it was windy you would put your back to the wind and drift...if no wind then one would fish and one would push pole...then switch places. LOTS more area to fish. In the summer during the week you might run in to 10 more people fishing. Once Humble was closed most of use would launch at "Teppies" just on the other side of the Hwy. 14 bridge over Lacassine Bayou and use the Lacassine Bayou rollers. Even back then it could humble you.
