Default Fillet knives

Looking to buy a good fillet knive, like one that will last more than 1 year. I must go throught 3 knives a year! I my last one was a American angler , it's on it's last leg. Anyone got any suggestions on one that will last?

Ive tried several higher priced ones and come to the conclusion, they all wear out pretty fast. Now I just buy the cheap black and decker models from walmart for about 10 bucks and just plan on replacing it when it goes out. I figure i can buy 3 for the price of a mister twister,or rapala. so far, the black and decker is still running after 6 mo. so I figure Im a little ahead of the game this time.

the breaking knife that yak'em is talking about is pretty bad. i have cleaned at least 100 fish with it so far and I have only had to run it on a honing steel once. i have cleaned some major reds with it too. it is first time i have used a manual filet knife but i won't go back. once you get used to it i think i can clean fish just as fast as anyone with an electric. beauty of it is i am not tied to electricity i can clean fish anywhere.

The best electric fillet knife out there is the grey & black American Angler! They cost $22 @ academy & are hands down the best! They have a yellow knife that is in a black plastic case for around $35 & a salt water knife that is white & blue in a white case for $44. I have had both of those & they suck compared to the cheap $22 model. Maybe I'm just spoiled though.

I have 2 Mr. Twister Electric Fillet Knives. 1 is a green & yellow Electric Fisherman with regular blades & the other is a blue & white saltwater Pirahna with Pirahna blades. Both sets of blades have only been used once. The Pirahna knife has only been used once & the green & yellow electric fisherman has been used 4 or 5 times. $40 cash takes them both if you are interested!

They have just been sitting in my closet for damn near a year now! Seriously though, the cheap grey & black American Angler knife for $22 is the best knife I have ever used. Verry aggressive blades that recripricate much better than other knives. The more expensive American Angler knives are junk in my opinion compared to the cheap one. If you buy one & don't like it, I'll buy it from you!

Might just "share" this now, too! Take that knife back to WalMart and get a Proctor/Silex(used to be GE) electric knife then go to the sporting goods isle and get a Twister Pirrana blade. It will fit the PS knife and make your redfish cleaning a snap!!
