Default Screened porch project

Decided to quit fighting the bugs at my house. Doing a 40 x 15 section of my shop porch next to my pool. Trying to get finished for Sunday,
mothers day

Only problem i see is the screen panels are going to be big. my experience with holes that size is the winds tear up the screens real fast. IMHO i would at the minimum put a horizontal and vertical 2x4 dividing those holes into 4 panels.

Eman, not wanting to highjack OPs thread, but since you mentioned wind tearing holes in screens, i've been looking at the retractable screens, and they come in widths of 19 feet x 9ft high...do you know if they use a different and stronger screen material that can the wind.

btw, to the OP, nice looking work.

The option that I know works aint exactly pretty course I guess ya could make it so we had sheets of 3/4 marine plywood hinged on top with 2x4 folding legs when open they ensured shade by extending over the screens when down they provided great protection from wind and rain thats how the screen porch I grew up with was protected. plywood shutters would stay propped up till it threatened to storm then they could easily be lowered and latched. It allowed for 4ft tall 8 ft wide screen windows.

I'd split those openings in half with one vertical 2x4, they'll stay tight year round, more susceptible to damage and slack in your screens if too large. Just my experience. What material are you using for your kick panel?

I started off wanting a screened in porch but ended up putting Windows in it. I like it much better.
