Line of choice

I'm bout to brake my can opener on these worms here, but her goes.... What's your line of choice? Braid, mono, or fluro and why? Do you use a different type of line for different baits? And finally leader or no leader, when and why?

Personally, I use braid with both a fluro leader most of the time except in dirty water. I like the backbone of the braid, but have it stuck in my head that they can see the braid. I use a 20 sometimes 30lb fluro leader. I also find I don't have to re spool as often with the braid. The one exception when I don't use this set up is when fishing topwater. Neither braid or fluro float as well as mono.

I'm power pro all the way. Don't use a leader I guess out of laziness. Wonder if that's what causes a lot of short strikes on top water???

I hate braid. All I throw is mono. 12 lb clear Sufix. No leaders either. Having your drag set properly makes all the difference, IMO. Just let them big girls wear themselves out. But everyone has their own opinion as well. Whatever you have the most confidence in.

I use them all under different situations.....I love braid use it 90% of the time with and without a leader. I have tried countless brands and my favorite is the stren sonic braid. For baits with treble hooks I almost always use mono. Mostly use stren original,but want to try the seagaur senshi mono. Only time I use braid with a treble hook bait is ripping a rattle trap in the grass.

I always wait till i can feel the trout pull. Alot of times they will hit it but not take it, then take it immediatly after.

I use all of the above in different situations. Basic rule for me is braid for heavy stuff, flourish for clean water and crank baits, and mono for everything else. As stated the drag is equally as important as the line choice.

Exactly. You have to wait for them. I was just wondering about all the drive by's as I call them lol. Just a swirl or even a slap. Wonder if they see something. But, after a short pause and a twitch or two they often hammer that bad boy too. Damn, I won't sleep tonight just thinking about it. Top water just gets my blood pumping.

I use ANDE green for all freshwater stuff from 2-8 lb test. Maxima for Steelhead and Salmon 12 lb test river camo. 100lb braid for Halibut and sturgeon, steel leaders.

I use 10lb power pro on my spinning reels. Mainly for casting distance. No leader either. On my baitcast I use 12lb big game or suffix. But uill never use mono on a spinning reel unless its bream or crappie etc....

I fish spinning gear using P-line CXX 6# with 2-3' fluorocarbon leader.

I use 30 lb. Power Pro Super Slick and Seagar 20 lb. fluro as a leader when fishing plastics. If I am using topwaters, I'll swith to mono because it floats better than the fluro. I like the braid becasue of it's lack of memory, it's smaller diameter, which allows me to spool more line on my reel, and because of the quick response time I get when setting the hook. I like using a leader for the same reason that someone else mentioned: I have it in my head that the fish can see the braid better than they can see fluro. Albright knot when joining braid to fluro or mono.

14lb cajun red line, no leades for all lures. I use 30 lb red cajun leaders for carolina rigging live bait. I've tried a bunch of different stuff, I just have confidence in the red cajun. I know a lot of folks on here have had a different experience with it tho. I do respool very often. Prolly once every 6 weeks or so when I'm fishing a lot. I'm a freak about keeping a full spool on by baitcasters. The cajun is cheap enough to spool up any time you feel like it.
