Default Cocodrie UFO's

Finally a good weekend to fish. Saturday we had an all ladies offshore trip and went to the wahoo grounds. Hit the gulf and it was like a mirror. Perfect. Splashed the baits at 8:00 and the first pass over the hot spot had the 50w screaming. Short fight in the corner and a blackfin kindly accepted the gaff. Ice dirty, lookin' good. Next wrap and the long rigger goes off this time lookin' like a hoo. Waited for the other baits to get smacked but no go. First wahoo of the day happily comes boat side and everyone is all pumped. Only problem is that's the only one willing to eat. Two more hours of trolling with not another strike and we wrapped it up and went for the bottom critters. Those famous bottom dwellers Capt. Tommy has dubbed Cocodrie Exotics. This assortment consisted of Yellow Eye Snapper, Pink Porgy, Almaco Jack, Black Jack, and the rare Creole Fish. Time to head north for Mangrove Snapper. We found them thick as ants and had them in the chum pretty quick. The Red Snapper came up and joined the party and were quicker than the groves at eating our baits. We managed a few before calling it a day. Red Snapper isn't the only edible fish in the gulf, and it's only going to get better from here. Capt. Rob 225-776-9820
