Well, you convinced me to give it a try on the clear waters of South Texas. Leaving Tuesday, I'll post up if anything good comes out of it. I bought the bone, looks like a good bait to get creative with the colors.

I use acrylic enamel auto paint with a clear coat. Trick is to sand 'em to the bone or the paint will "crawl". It's expensive so I mix different colors to get what I want. Sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't. When I get time, I'll try to get you a Texas Chicken "Donk" painted.

My nails are not long enough for nail polish.

I will but I gotta get another camera. Bruce and Fool saw the Texas Chicken Bomber back in August. I guess it looked pretty good...those colors are sometimes hard to get right. The fish didn't seem to mind, tho.

This color looks like the real deal. I wonder, does it matter about the color of the back on a topwater bait?

I would say yes to that. When that lure lands its submerged, and when it walks side to side every little bit helps....plus it looks pretty!

I've used the auto paints before and lightly sanded them, paint pens work well too. Then the clear coat is a must.
I'd like to see that Texas chicken when you get it done.

If anyone would know about topwaters...it'd be a Texan.
